“EURObike” Cycling Race

Over 200 cycling enthusiasts, the youngest being 6 years old and the oldest – 74, participated in the cycling race, entitled EURObike.

The event took place on the International Day of Peace, on September 21, 2024, fitting perfectly into the European Mobility Week, which takes place between September 16-22.

The people of Ungheni once again proved that they care about the diversification of urban mobility, the healthy way of life, the environment. At the same time, they gave a clear signal that our path is towards Europe.

The cycling race was organized by the Ungheni City Hall in partnership with JCI, in the context of the project “Improving cycling policies, with an emphasis on resilience to climate change, accessibility and safety” (CycleRight), financed by the European Union through the Interreg Europe Program.

At the end, the town hall also handed out prizes: for the oldest and, respectively, the youngest participant, for the largest number of families participating in the race, for the largest team, for the most original equipment with distinct elements of the European Union.
Those who wished had the opportunity to use the 30 bicycles, purchased in 2023 within the project “Cross-border Environmentally Friendly Transport Development”, funded by the European Union. We remind you that, due to the same project, about 20 km of bicycle tracks were built in Ungheni City.
