The Jewish cemetery in Sculeni
In the border locality Sculeni are the remains of a Jewish cemetery. The graves had specific stone monuments, instead of Orthodox crosses. In time, however, they were desecrated. At the request of the kolkhoz from Cioropcani, during the Khrushchev period, more than 40 wagons with tombstones were removed from here, which were used in the construction of a farm. The rest would have been taken by the locals, either for construction or for road paving.
About the graves themselves, it is said that at the request of the Jews, around 1978, the dead were exhumed and taken to the Balti and Falesti cemetery.
